Janome DMX100 Petite Sewing Machine is rated 4.388888888888889 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, uncomplicated and very very easy to use I have used two sewing machines before - both Singer units from about 1950. Both were as basic as this one. I bought this one because I'm no expert and I have a few small jobs to do. This little machine is a gem. Follow the page-by-page steps to set it up (very simple) and just get going. This machine does not have variable speed which is not so good fro a pro but it will stop the machine running away with itself if you're a beginner. It does various widths of running stitch, button holes, zig-zag (good for soft toys) and the reverse is very simple. It did help that I'd done it before but I think a novice could pick it up. There are things that you'll need to know no matter what machine you have - like remembering to raise the needle when you change stitch or remove the fabric. I don't know how this machine would behave after many many hours of work, but nothing suggests it would misbehave if looked after. If you're a beginner or a hobbyist, I think this is terrific value for money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good The instructions for setup are complex and the needle keeps getting stuck in the carriage. There is possibly a fault but it doesnt work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fab My 7 year old granddaughter ask me to buy this machine for her, ( with her Christmas money) she is very pleased with the machine, but disappointed there is no light, she has enjoyed her first few lessons making a doll and will be making the clothes in half term holidays

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent value for money I have had this machine a couple of weeks and just love it. It is so light and portable and can do all the basics. There are no fancy extras like walking feet, or a light, the speed cannot be altered and there are no graduated measurements by the foot. But if you are looking for a basic machine which is so light and extremely portable and of course real value for money you cannot do better.
