At Home With… Jade Vanriel
We recently popped round to Interior Stylist Jade Vanriel’s flat to have a lovely socially distanced chat with her (and her adorable Bichon Frise, Ritchie) about everything interiors, her love for DIY and how she’s beating the lockdown blues. Jade began vlogging her home styling journey when a tight budget meant DIYing and upcycling were the perfect ways to create the look she wanted for less. Savvy and stylish? We just have to see more, so let’s take a look at how Jade’s vision for her home turned into a reality.
Describing her interior style as traditional, modern, and airy with a few wonderful pops of colour, Jade discovered a talent and love for transformation when a tight budget threatened to limit her options. Determined to find a way, she got creative with preloved furniture and transformed found pieces with some TLC and lick of paint. Updating her style on a budget is still something Jade loves to do, especially when her tastes have changed over the last few years. Her home is a testament to how easy upcycling projects can help you fall in love with the same old items, from painting a mirror-edged mirror black, and changing her living room console table from silver to gold. Simple changes with a big impact, we love it!
Jade’s favourite part of her home is the reading corner in her bedroom, complete with a cream Teddy Bear Cocktail Chair that bares an adorable resemblance to Ritchie! She often sits on it to get lost in a good book until relaxation turns to sleepiness and we don’t blame her, it looks super cosy. We’ve all needed to up our wellbeing game this year, and one thing Jade has recently discovered that brings her comfort is Panda Bamboo Bedding. It has a silky soft texture that feels soothing – perfect when you want to unwind - and the fact it is a sustainable material brings an extra feel-good factor. When asked how she keeps her beautiful home looking so good, Jade revealed that she finds cleaning to be quite therapeutic, and for everyday mess like Ritchie’s post-walk paw prints, she always keeps the hoover handy. A great tip to stop tasks from building up.
2020’s many restrictions have made it hard to enjoy the great outdoors as times, but that wasn’t going to stop Jade. Instead of getting fed up, Jade got busy transforming her balcony into a space to enjoy fresh air and sunshine any time she likes! Spending more time at home has given Jade the extra time and motivation to have a good clothing clear out and make some money in the process (a great way to give your clothes a second life!). Now that the weather is starting to turn and spending time on her balcony is less appealing, one of Jade’s top tips for staying warm is by using fluffy throws to get cosy, as well as cuddling up with little Ritchie and a good fluffy rug. She also plans to invest in some of our own thermal curtains to keep the flat nice and toasty. We can’t wait to see which ones she goes for- if you’re reading this Jade, send us a pic!
