Small Single Beds
Did you know there’s a size between kids’ bed and a single bed? The small single bed is quite a niche size, probably because the single is so common and it’s easier to find mattresses and bedding for them. However, there are plenty of people who choose a small single, for a variety of reasons.
First, it could be down to space. A small single bed is about a metre in width (compared to about 130 cm for a standard single). That is enough to sleep on if you’re a relatively inactive sleeper, but if you’re limited for space, it could be your only option.
Second, small single beds are perfect for when you have guests over. It’s unobtrusive when not in use, so you’re using up less floor space. But if you have someone staying the night, it’s ideal for someone to rest their head.
And third, it’s perfect for small people. Children who have grown out of their cots and kids’ beds might graduate to a small single, especially where there’s limited space. Most people will opt for a standard single as children grow up so fast, but if you’ve got several young kids a few years apart, they can all have their turn in a small single and you’ll cut down on wasted room. Of course, it’s not just kids who are small – if you’re not a giant yourself, perhaps a slimline bed is all you need.
Because it’s quite an uncommon size, our stock of small single beds just covers the basics. That means we sell simple wooden and metal-framed beds, plus bunk beds with the small single footprint.
