Evenings in the Garden
Lighter evenings and sunnier weather means heading into the garden is high on our to-do list. It’s a real tonic to get some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine during the day but spending time outdoors in the evenings is a great way to extend spring and summer. Whether you’re planning a barbecue, an outdoor movie-night or having friends’ round for an alfresco catch-up, we’ve plenty of ideas to help your garden be a comfortable haven to hang out in day or night.
Cosy corners
There is something about a spring or summer evening in the garden that is wonderfully relaxing. From the slight cooling of the temperature that makes you wrap up in a blanket to the calmness of eating and drinking by candle or solar light. To create a space you can truly unwind in, layer a seating area with plump cushions, soft blankets and decorate with cosy solar lights and lanterns. This quick transformation will instantly invite you to sit, put your feet up and enjoy the evening.
A night at the movies
Good food, good entertainment and good weather, what a perfect combination! We’ve all heard of picnics during the day, but have you ever tried an at-home picnic in the evening? Forget the dining room and head outside with your favourite sweet and savoury treats and create a comfy space with floor cushions and blankets. Create some ambience using string, hanging and stake solar lighting to create an inviting glow and brighten the space further with potted garden blooms and greenery. If you own or can borrow a film projector you could try an outdoor movie night, it’s simpler than it might sounds - attach a white sheet to a wall, shed or garage or place a laptop on a table and settle into your favourite film. If it gets a little chilly as the night goes on, snuggle up in a blanket or get toasty by one of our outdoor heaters.
