Should I choose Ready-made or Made to measure curtains?
It’s likely that the style and size of your windows will dictate whether you use our Ready-made or Made to measure service. Our ready-made curtains come in three different widths and lengths, which cover all the standard window sizes, however, if your windows fall outside these sizes, we offer the option of using our Made to measure curtains. This service works for your measurements, so your curtains are tailored to elevate your window.
Ready-made curtains
- We have hundreds of ready-made curtains for you to choose from, in a number of standard curtain sizes.
- Our ready-made curtain widths measure 117, 168 and 228 cms and lengths come in 137, 182 and 228 cms.
- On some of our curtains we also offer wide widths and longer drops outside of these measurements. Just measure your windows at home, using our handy curtain measuring guide, and you’re ready to choose your curtain style and fabric.Made to measure curtains
- If your windows are a little unusual, our Made to Measure service offers the flexibility you need to ensure a better fit.
- Just send over the measurements and we’ll work with you to create specially made curtains for your space.
- We double check your measurements and fit everything for you.
- As well as thousands of fabrics to choose from, there’s also a choice of accessories, such as curtain poles, tiebacks and finials.
Frequently Asked Questions
After hanging your curtains, we recommend allowing 24-48 hours for light creases to drop out naturally under their own weight. Although, allow up to one week for creases to drop out for heavy fabrics or thicker linings.
We recommend using a gentle handheld steamer to remove deep creases, but it is important to remember to hold the steamer at least a few inches away from the fabric to not cause damage.
Check the instructions on the care label before washing as directions can vary depending on the fabric of your curtains.
If your curtains are suitable for hand washing, we recommend using a colour care detergent and use a gentle squeezing motion to clean the fabric. Rinse thoroughly after washing and hang the curtains to air dry to allow any creases to drop out.
Our blackout curtains are designed to block out as much external light as possible, making them ideal for creating a darker, more restful space. They're perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, home cinemas, or anywhere you want better sleep and improved privacy.
Thermal curtains can help give you maximum insulation during the colder, winter months. They can be used in any room where there's an unwanted draught and will help keep your house warmer during the winter months.
Our Made to measure service allows you to find curtains to fit your window size. You can also choose from a variety of material and curtain linings including blackout, thermal and standard linings. You can take advantage of our free Measure and Fit service, book your free online appointment today.
To measure for net curtains or voiles, measure the exact width of your pole, track, or window recess and multiply by 1.5x for a standard gather and 2x for a fuller look. For the drop, measure from the top of your tension rod, wire, or track down to where you want the net or voile to finish.
Choosing the right curtains for your home depends on what room they will be placed. We recommend installing the curtain pole 20cm above the window recess to create a luxurious look and picking neutral colours that match your existing décor.
