Preparation Guidelines

Ensure surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free from grease, dust flaking material or other contamination. Repair any cracks and defects. Glossy or sealed surfaces should be lightly sanded prior to application. Avoid the inhalation of dust – wear a suitable dust mask when dry sanding. If applying to base plaster or a highly porous surface, apply a mist coat of Dunelm Matt paint, reduced 10% with water.

Storage Guidelines

The product is water-based and so must be protected from frost and extreme temperatures. To avoid the risk of spillage, always store and transport in a secure and upright position. Use within 12 months of purchase.

Peel and Stick Paint Swatch

If you're still unsure about your colour choice, our peel and stick swatches will make choosing the right colour for your room easy, simply peel off the backing and apply to your wall of choice. The low-tack adhesive backing is designed for peeling off and sticking somewhere new, so you can move it around the room to see how it looks in all areas and next to different furnishings. We make our samples using real paint so you can trust that the colours you see on them are exactly the results you'll get from the tin. Our swatches are supplied in a standard A5 size.

Natural History Museum x Dunelm

The Matt Emulsion Reef Pink Paint is part of the Coral Reef Collection. Tropical coral reefs are remarkable places. Vitally important ecosystems for underwater life, they offer food and shelter to fishes, molluscs, sea urchins and more. In addition, they help to protect coastlines by reducing the power of the waves hitting beaches, they offer protection from threats such as tsunamis, and they also provide food for millions of people. Coral reefs are packed full of life. From tropical fish and sea turtles to octopuses and sponges, did you know that despite taking up only 1% of the ocean, 25% of all underwater species call the reef home at some point? And yet, these stunning habitats are exposed to a broad range of human impacts on both local and global scales including plastic pollution, overfishing and coastal development. Through our collection with the Natural History Museum, we want to shine a light on these incredible underwater treasure troves and highlight the urgent need to protect them from further decline.
