Wardrobes For Every Bedroom

Choose The Right Wardrobe Size

Here at Dunelm we stock every size of wardrobe to suit your bedroom, from single and double to extra-large. To ensure that you pick the right size for your room, measure the width of your wall and also account for 2-3cm clearance at the back where the wardrobe should stand, for cables and uneven plaster. Don’t forget to allow for skirting boards, which can prevent a wardrobe from sitting flush against the wall.

Choose The Right Door Type

If you’re interested in a wardrobe with hinged doors, you need to account for swing clearance equal to the door panel width. Sliding door wardrobes need no clearance at all, making them the practical choice for tight or smaller rooms. The downside is that sliding doors only reveal half the wardrobe at once, whereas hinged doors give you full visibility of your clothes in one go. Corner Wardrobes slot neatly into unused corners, making use of space a rectangular wardrobe would waste – a smart pick for smaller bedrooms.

The Benefits of Mirrored Doors

A wardrobe with mirrored doors is great if you don’t have the floor or wall space to hang or stand a separate full body mirror, plus the reflective surface makes the space feel brighter and larger.

Ready-Assembled vs. Flat-Pack

Ready-assembled wardrobes arrive built and need minimal setup, but they’re bulky and heavy and potentially difficult to get up narrow stairs or through tight doorframes. Flat-pack wardrobes arrive in separate boxes which are easier to carry to any floor. Setting them up will take a couple of hours but they can be taken apart again and moved if you redecorate or move house. Every flat-pack wardrobe from Dunelm comes with clear, step-by-step assembly instructions.

Wardrobe Materials & Finishes Most of our wardrobes are made from engineered wood like MDF or chipboard with a laminate finish which is durable yet lightweight and easy to clean. Solid wood wardrobes, made from pine or oak are heavier and harder to move but they offer a premium look and longevity. For finishes, white remains the most popular colour in the UK for its versatility, oak effects adds warmth, grey and black suit more contemporary rooms.
