What are eyelet curtains?
Eyelet curtains feature a header where circular holes are cut into the fabric and reinforced with metal rings called eyelets or sometimes, grommets. Typically, they are ideal to complement a more contemporary and modern décor in the way they create smooth flowing waves in the fabric. However, with the right fabric and curtain pole choice, they can still fit into a more traditional look.
With more than 500 styles of eyelet curtain available, many with a choice of colours, it is easy to find the right fit for your home. Most of our curtains come fitted with at least a regular lining for added weight and form, however, we also have hundreds of options available with blackout and thermal linings to bring more than just style to your window.
How to hang eyelet curtains?
One convenient benefit of eyelet curtains is how easy they are to hang on a curtain pole. The curtain panels thread directly onto the curtain pole without the need to pull threads or fiddle with hooks. Our how to hang curtains guide features a detailed step by step guide and handy tips that will help you get your curtains up with ease. Once hung, eyelet curtains glide smoothly along your curtain pole for effortless opening and closing.
What’s the difference between eyelet and pencil pleat curtains?
Eyelet and pencil pleat are the most popular heading types for curtains in our range and each has its own benefits with neither being typically better than the other. Eyelet curtains are a popular choice for more modern homes with their flowing wavy look, while pencil pleat curtains have a more traditional feel thanks to the gathered pleated header. Pinch pleat headers are also available as part of our made to measure curtains range which offer a more premium and tailored finish compared to standard pencil pleat headings.
As already mentioned, eyelet curtains are very easy to hang, but can only be hung from curtain poles. We do offer eyelet curtain poles that are specifically designed for eyelet curtains as they do not come supplied with unwanted curtain rings. Pencil pleat curtains are a bit more complicated to hang and take longer, but can be hung from both curtain poles and tracks for added versatility.
How to measure for eyelet curtains
We offer eyelet ready made curtains in a wide range of sizes to fit the majority of windows, but we know choosing the perfect size can be tricky. That’s why we have created an expert how to measure curtains guide that walks you through the process and helps you pick the right size for your window.
