Shedding: What to Expect (and How to Manage It)

As a natural wool product, you may notice shedding and an odour at first, this is completely normal! Shedding happens because loose surface fibres are working their way out, which is a natural part of wool’s settling process and does not mean anything is wrong. Over time, the fibres will tighten, leaving you with a strong, long-lasting, and beautiful rug. Any initial odour will dissipate quickly as the rug airs out, giving you the cosy comfort wool is known for.

Tips to reduce shedding:

Vacuum gently using suction only, avoid brushes or beaters as these can pull the fibres and prolong shedding.

Rotate regularly for even wear.

Trim loose fibres with scissors – never pull.

Blot spills gently as scrubbing can cause fibre breakage.
