What is an Oxford pillowcase?

An Oxford pillowcase has a fabric edge or border, usually around 5cm, sewn around the edge for decoration. A housewife pillowcase is what most people consider ‘standard’ pillowcases with simple, sewn seam. Oxford and housewife pillowcases are both very popular choices. Having a plain housewife pillowcase against a patterned oxford pillowcase creates an inviting layered look on top of your bed. Couple this with a bolster pillow or a matching bed cushion and you will never want to get out of your comfy bed again. Black and white pillowcases work well in a contemporary and modern bedroom set behind each other for texture and added depth.
